Midland and surrounding communities are several hundred bags of garbage cleaner this week thanks to the efforts of a number of cleanup crews – including those participating in the first Realtor Cleanup Day on April 26.

“It's amazing how much garbage can be collected by small numbers of people, in such a short time,” says organizer Monica McCready.

McCready says the initial response from the cleanup crews has been a very positive one, with many enthusiastic adults and children participating.

“We reached our goal of helping to clean up the areas in which we live and work, and Southern Georgian Bay Real Estate Association Members are excited to grow this initial effort into a much larger event in coming years. What I noticed personally, along with the visual impact when travelling by areas we cleaned up on the weekend, is a sense of accomplishment that was a pleasant result of the event.”

Cleanup crews have been taking part across the community in recent days as part of Pitch In Canada Week.
