Donna Zurdema, Barb Pakulak, Bonny Schell and Lillian Smith are among the employees at the Wine Rack who will be donating money for the Canadian Cancer Society every time a customer purchases a bottle of rose or blush wine.

Staff at The Wine Rack in Midland are thinking pink this March.

To pair up with their promotion of Think Pink for Spring, employees at the Mountainview Mall location will be combining their efforts with the Canadian Cancer Society’s Think Pink campaign by donating money out of their own pockets for each bottle of rose or blush wine sold during the month of March.

“We have lost two staff members to cancer in the past two years and we have one survivor (on staff),” says Donna Zurdema, manager of The Wine Rack at Mountainview Mall in Midland, noting all money raised will go to the local Midland chapter. “We wanted it all to stay in the community.”

The women are hoping to raise more than $1,000 during their month-long endeavour.

“Cancer has affected many lives and the wine rack staff has not been immune,” the group wrote in a letter provided to The Mirror. “In their memory, they want to give back to the community that has generously supported them over their 19 years in business. Help us make this a success and think pink.”

The Wine Rack will also be hosting a rose wine tasting and food pairing on Saturday, March 15, and invites everyone to join them between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Mountainview Mall location.
