It's time for some to recognize their own gender bias

It was with disgust that I read Ms. Connolly's letter to the editor of your newspaper. Helena Guergis participated on a CBC television show where she promoted skiing and winter sports activities in her riding.

Ms. Guergis was a guest, who participated in a fun, good natured, skit.

Ms. Connolly, on the other hand, chose to make gender the issue.

Lots of male politicians and business leaders have appeared on Rick Mercer's show but it's the female that gets the headlines.

Ms. Guergis is an experienced, knowledgeable, hard working politician. Her recent promotion to Secretary of State is a testament to her hard work.

When people like Elizabeth Connolly begin to recognize their own gender bias, progress will be made to reduce gender stereotyping.
