There still are gentlemen out there willing to help! - On Thursday, Feb. 8, everybody was inconvenienced by the snow in some way.

The morning newscasts profiled residents of our region digging their way into their vehicles and trying to find the bottom of their driveways.

As I made my way to my car, I took a good look at the end of my driveway.

"Hmmm" I thought. "Can I make it?"

My assessment skills were obviously lacking as this moment and my desire to get going overpowered my common sense. Sure enough, stuck I was. Not just a little stuck. I couldn't get the door open stuck.

As I crawled over the stick shift in attempt to release myself from my newfound prison, I spilled my coffee, crushed my bagel, put a hole in my stockings and popped a button on my coat. Tragedy! What is a girl to do?

At last! Along came my knight is shining armour on his white horse. Actually, he was wearing brown overalls, impermeable florescent orange gloves and driving this huge and powerful white truck.

After the mustached angel determined that digging to China and pushing to Timbuktu wasn't getting the job done, he hooked my car up to his white beast and pulled it out in two seconds flat. It was like Godzilla pulling on a Hot Wheels car with dental floss. I was amazed!

Now, I don't consider myself helpless. My impulsivity got me into this mess. Hard lesson learned.

From now on, I will take that extra minute as an ounce of prevention. I'm just glad that there are still people in our world that are willing to help out a stranger.

I'm sure, as he was driving off into the sunset, he was chuckling to himself. I would too.

When you step back and think about it, it was like an episode of Seinfeld right on Church Street in Penetang.
