More than 400 Catholic women from across Ontario will gather in Midland for an annual gathering next week.
The 62nd annual convention of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada’s Ontario Provincial Council will take place from July 5-8. The event will see women from 13 dioceses report on their accomplishments from the past year, as well as discuss upcoming goals.
The convention – the theme of which is Women of Peace and Hope, Rooted in Faith – will begin with mass at St. Margaret’s Church on July 4 at 5 p.m. led by the Archbishop of Toronto, Thomas Collins.
The convention will include a panel of experts in Catholic education whose purpose it will be to provide innovative and thought-provoking perspectives on the topic. The panel will include: Sister Joan Cronin, executive director of the Institute for Catholic Education; Michael O’Keefe, director of education for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board; Pat Bullock, chaplain at St. Theresa’s High School; and Rebecca Ryall, a third-year journalism student from Carleton University.
The convention will finish July 8 with the election of new provincial officers and a closing mass at the Martyrs’ Shrine at 1:30.
