The SCDSB will provide funding for the upgrade of existing sports fields at six board schools.

The board approved $201,802 from their reserves to fund the projects.

The funds will help pay to retrofit the playing field at Algonquin Ridge Elementary School with new sod and an irrigation system and a naturalization trail with an outdoor classroom.

The funding for Holly Meadows will be combined with funds raised by the parent community to create an outdoor classroom.

The board plans to finish the naturalization trail at Killarney Beach Public School and provide a running track and general landscaping for Hon. Earl Rowe Public School.

The funds will also pay for naturalization trails at W.R. Best Memorial Public School and Warnica Public School.
