A Collingwood-based 211 service has received international Accreditation.
Community Connection's 211 service, which currently provides residents in Simcoe County with free, confidential, multilingual information about community, social, health and related government services, met and exceeded all the standards set by the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems, an association based in Virginia.
Pamela Hillier, Executive Director of the local organization, was in Houston last month to receive official recognition of the achievement from the association and approximately 700 peers.
AIRS accreditation is a North America-wide phenomenon for information and referral agencies. It is part of an effort to ensure professionalism and high standards for the new 211 system under development across Canada.
The accreditation process subjects organizations to intense scrutiny and evaluation from a professional organization. The process, which took more than two years, produced mounds of documentation and resulted in the implementation of additional policies and procedures to document accountability for the 211 service.
The process culminated in April this year with a visit by a review team recruited from Connecticut and Michigan, before receiving the honor, Operations Manager Michelle Fisher reported.
