After a bye in the first round, the Jr. C Alliston Hornets will open a semi-final series against the Erin Shamrocks this Friday night at the New Tec Rec Centre.

The Jr. C Alliston Hornets will hit the ice this weekend for the opening of the Georgian Bay Mid-Ontario semifinal series with the Erin Shamrocks.

The Hornets received a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Erin defeated the Midland Flyers in the quarterfinal round, four games to one.

The Hornets came into the playoffs with a record of 36-3-3, enough to take first place in the Georgian Bay Mid-Ontario Junior Hockey League this year, earning them the bye. The Shamrocks finished fourth with a record of 17-23-0. The Hornets lost only one game to Erin all year, dropping a contest 7-3 in December.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre Feb. 22.

The series heads to Erin Saturday for a 7:30 p.m. start. The Hornets will be back at home Mon., Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

The other games are Feb. 27, Feb. 29, March 1 and March 4 if necessary.
